Laser hair removal clinic and instrument help?
24 Dec 2009
I am planning to go for laser hair removal treatment for my face. I heard good reviews about American Laser Center but unfortunately there is’nt one near my local area. Has anyone taken treatment at Dermacare Laser and Skin Clinic [www.dermacareusa.com]. Is it a good clinic for getting the treatment? Also, I am an Asian with brown complexion and dark hair. What specific instrument or therapy would be best for my skin type? Any suggestion is highly appreciated. Thank you all very much for the help.

2009 Dec 24 1Typically most laser hair reduction is done with 810nm or 1064nm wavelength lasers. Generally dark hair is easier to reduce than light hair. In terms of complexion, most safety issues about laser hair removal deals with the Fitzpatrick Type of the skin being treated. You are most likely a type IV or V. Most of the newer lasers are rated as being safe for all skin types. IPL devices are generally not safe for darker skin types.
When you get your evaluation for your procedure, you should ask your technician about safety for your skin type and about comfort issues during the procedure. They should be able to address these issues. If not, shop elsewhere.
